From 2004, the year of establishment of the Urology and Nephrology Research Center (UNRC), multiple researches have been conducted to control the dimensions of urological and nephrological diseases existing in our country, as well as to expand our understanding about their risk factors.

The main aspects of research issues in UNRC have been the studying on the pathophysiology of diseases, comparing treatment modalities, and surveying the epidemiology of health problems in the field of urology and nephrology .

We have published some papers in international journals regarding on kidney transplantation, innovations and reconstructive surgeries, sexual dysfunction and infertility, urolithiasis, oncology, urinary infections, and renal diseases.

Recently, a series of work groups in UNRC, have developed research lines and priorities according to the needs assessments, burden of diseases, preferences of researches and facilities, and the headlines of research priorities in the Ministry of Health and WHO. In the coming years, we will focus on bladder cancer (early detection and prevention), urolithiasis, benign prostatic hyperplasia, renal failure, and kidney transplantation. We hope that frontiers of science to be more expanded in our region by conducting collaborative investigations with research centers, as well as researcher individuals. Certainly, a sense of collaboration and partnership between research centers will provide beautiful horizons for further regional and worldwide studies.
